Yes that's right support for windows xp ended today. Once again if you are using your computer as a stand alone system you should be just fine. The problem is if anyone tries to attack the multitude of computers running windows xp whether at home or in a business there could be big problems. If you want to be safe avoid the internet as much as possible and do not do email with the xp system. My best advice is to either move into a new computer running windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Another idea is to upgrade your xp machine to windows 7, but you will have to save data, wipe and reinstall all software from a fresh start after installing windows 7. Upgrades may include adding more memory to 4gb or more and possibly installing a new larger hard drive. It may be better in the long run to just go in to a new computer and move data.
The other option is going in to a computer running one of the many Linux distributions. Another idea is running a dual boot system where you can choose to run either Linux or Windows XP. I would use Linux primarily for the internet and Email. Here are some videos about end of life for Windows XP.

There are many tutorials on the internet with good instructions on how to install various distributions of Linux is a dual boot system. It can be with windows xp or other operating systems as well. I would recommend either Linux Zorin, Mint or Ubuntu. You can get the iso file for either 32bit or 64bit depending on your current system.
Well Thank You for reading and watching. Stay Safe.
